• Question: what would happen if eaerth stopped moving?

      If the Earth stopped moving, it would fall into the Sun.
      That would not be good!
      Luckily it would take something enormously powerful to stop the Earth moving!

      Yep, the Earth needs to keep moving in order to stay in orbit around the Sun. If we lost energy then we would fall inwards to a smaller orbit. Also, if the Earth stopped spinning, we would all feel a huge force – similar to if you’re on a park roundabout and someone stops it suddenly – you carry on moving for a bit.
