I think an active galactic nuclei would be pretty terrifying to be anywhere near. They have awesome power.
If one was in place of our sun, and we were sitting way out on Pluto, it would boil all our oceans in 1 1/2 seconds.
Agreed! An active galactic nucleus (or AGN) is what we call a black hole at the centre of a galaxy that is ‘accreting’ matter – basically it has stuff falling in onto it, and is releasing huge amounts of high energy radiation as a result. Sometimes this energy is released as ‘jets’ – which look a bit like this https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSw7sF7asiZeHqTao3vYNrGGkHYxgSdkcpRPfAV3EpIW9F3VRjY
