• Question: What happens if the earth explodes?

      We all die!
      We need people on the moon and Mars so we don;t get wiped out.
      Realistically making a planet explode is very hard work, you need massive amounts of power to do it. If you calculate how much the Death Stars laser needs, it turns out to be a ummmm well a huge amount, sort of equivalent to several suns output!

      ha, I think we’re pretty safe from explosions 😀 The things that future generations will really need to worry about, astronomically speaking, are asteroid impacts and the Sun coming to the end of its life (but chances are humans will be long, long gone by then – it’s billions of years in the future).
