• Question: how would you advise modern day students to get in the same position ay you? does it all matter what GSCSEs you pick? and if you don't pick the 'right' ones for someones own personal strengths then will thgeir carer get spoiled because of it?

Hi Lucy 🙂 Great chatting with you earlier!
If you wanted to get into astronomy then I don’t think which GCSEs you pick matters so much, science and maths are compulsory anyway, but your A level choices do. I took A levels in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths and I’d recommend that anyone who wants a career in Physics takes as much maths as they possibly can at school – it’s really useful!
Sometimes you have no idea what you want your next move to be, and that’s ok. I didn’t really know I wanted to do Physics until Year 13. Just chat to your teachers about which subjects they think will keep your options open the most, and make sure you do what interests you.
My general advice is just to be cheeky and be determined if you really want something. Show people you’re passionate.
