• Question: how long did it take to figure out the correct landing area for the rocket going towards the comet?

      Hi Millie! The site was only decided in the final few months leading up to the landing. They had to wait for the comet to get close enough to be able to see the structure of it in plenty of detail, and then they tried to figure out the best possible place to land. I think they chose it based on a compromise between a) the probe being able to get enough light to charge its batteries and b) being easy to land on – some of the regions looked nice and flat, but then when they looked in more detail scientists noticed huge rocks and boulders that might get in the way.
