No different to being a male scientist really 🙂
We’re respected and treated just the same, I usually just forget about the gender divide until I’m out having a meal with other students or something and then look around and realise!

I think it has been hard in the past. But for PhD students and post doctoral researchers (which all of us in the space zone are) there is hardly any difference! There are still more men, but were not treated any different and things are gradually getting more even. I think often we are harder on ourselves then our male counter parts are, but that would be true in any job!
