Favourite star… well, I always look at Betelguese, which is in Orion on the left shoulder. It is a HUGE red star near the end of its life, and it may explode any time. So I always like to look for that and see if it is still there!

My favourite is the Sun, because well – we wouldn’t be here without it! Our Sun is quite a normal, run-of-the-mill kind of star as things go. It’s not heavy enough to produce a spectacular supernova at the end of its life like Betelguese, it’ll just reach the Red Giant phase (as Julian explained) and then collapse back into what we call a White Dwarf (a really small, densely packed star that’s stopped burning its fuel) but I’m glad it’s sticking around for a while 😀
