I’m afraid I don’t have an exact answer but I think it really can’t be too far off, perhaps in your lifetime. You can already be an ‘ordinary person’ (i.e. not an astronaut/cosmonaut) who gets trained up and goes into space – the only trouble being it costs millions of pounds! I think the space industry has changed massively since the Apollo missions of the 1960s and 70s – these days private companies are playing a much larger role in developing new technologies to send people into space. Hopefully with all these exciting new missions like Rosetta to a comet, Juno to Jupiter, we will see an inspired surge in space investment… We can only hope 😉
